The FSMA has published a newsletter (available in NL and FR only) reminding the market that insurance sub-agents may only carry out insurance distribution activities after having been registered in the register of insurance intermediaries.
This communication follows a number of points of attention that Becobra has already addressed, notably in its note of 3 April 2026 on insurance sub-agency, broker responsibility and related governance considerations.
Without revisiting the substance of the topic, we encourage members to review these documents and, where appropriate, verify that their internal procedures relating to the engagement and supervision of insurance sub-agents remain up to date.
