Attracting and developing new talent remains one of the key challenges facing our profession. Marine insurance provides a good illustration of this challenge, combining a highly specialised field of expertise with a limited pool of experienced professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inspired by the successful VNAB model (Vereniging Nederlandse Assurantie Beurs, the Dutch insurance and reinsurance marketplace association) in the Netherlands, the Marine Insurance Graduate Program (MIGP) brings together brokers, insurers and marine experts in a structured one-year development track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first edition, starting in September 2026, will welcome two graduates who will rotate each through three participating organisations, gaining exposure to different perspectives across the marine insurance ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative has already received strong support from the market. Around twenty organisations have confirmed their participation, including seven brokers. The programme was developed through the joint efforts of insurers, brokers and marine experts who share the ambition of strengthening the future talent pipeline of the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For Becobra, the programme represents more than a talent initiative. It demonstrates how the sector can work collectively to increase its attractiveness and invest in the next generation of specialised insurance professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ambition is to further develop the programme in the coming years, attract additional participating organisations and welcome more graduates into the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond its value for participating organisations, the programme offers a unique opportunity for young professionals to discover the diversity, complexity and international dimension of marine insurance while building a broad professional network across the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
